I participated in a year-long academic internship with Baxter Healthcare through a Bio-IPD course at UIC. I worked in a cross-functioning team of 5-7 people from nursing, engineering, business administration, and design in order to help Baxter find possible solutions to problems in the ICU and general ward. My team was tasked with finding an improved method of detecting Sepsis upon ICU admission to enable faster treatment analysis and decisions. The process involved naturalistic observational research at the UIC Hospital, prototype drawings, marketing/business plans and course project documentation. I was responsible for designing presentation materials that documented our project as well as an informational handout for a trade show at the end of the year.
